A LIMERICK home carer has been named Comfort Keepers Carer of the Year following an “incredibly difficult” selection.
Sinead Hartridge officially received the accolade at a special ceremony at The Clayton Hotel in Limerick city attended by family, friends, and her Comfort Keepers colleagues.
Comfort Keepers is a nationwide provider of home care services and employs over 200 people at its Limerick branch office.
Ms Hartridge (52) from Limerick city is a wife and mother of three and has been a carer with Comfort Keepers for a decade. Her inspiration to become a carer came from her family; she loved spending time with her grandparents as a child and learned so much from them. Then after an uncle passed in 2012, she decided to take two level five courses regarding nursing and elderly care, and afterward applied to Comfort Keepers.
“I am so grateful for this recognition because it is such a privilege to care for my clients and to be welcomed into both their homes and lives,” Ms Hartridge said I love every time I meet a new client and getting to know them beyond their care plan; their likes and dislikes, skills, and interests. I love that I get to nurture them and enrich their lives and in return they trust me and are comfortable with me.
"Sadly, none of us can predict the future but my goal is to continue working as a carer to make a positive difference in the lives of my clients and their families.”
Collette Gleeson, Managing Director at Comfort Keepers Ireland said: "Our dedicated carers are the heart and soul of Comfort Keepers, and Sinead plays a pivotal role in our Limerick team. Without her dedication to brightening the lives of our clients, ensuring their safety, and bringing joy while elevating the human spirit within the comfort of their homes, our daily mission would be incomplete.
“Sinead exemplifies extraordinary commitment, unwavering reliability, and a boundless willingness to support her clients. She stands as a remarkable ambassador for Comfort Keepers and is unquestionably deserving of our esteemed title of Carer of the Year 2023."
Comfort Keepers works closely with the HSE, their clients, and their families to deliver quality, person-centred home care services. Its mission is to provide people with the highest quality of life that is achievable, treating each client with the respect and dignity they deserve. Collectively, the Comfort Keepers management team has over 100 years’ of experience working in the healthcare industry.
