Busy Limerick garda station prepares to open its doors for Culture Night

A BUSY garda station in Limerick will is preparing to open its doors to the public for Culture Night.

The event at Henry Street garda station, which is the headquarters for the Limerick garda divsion, takes place between 6pm and 8pm this Friday.

The free event will be a rare opportunity for members of the public to visit various parts of the station including the dedicated custody suite.

Visitors will also have an opportunity to meet members of specialist units including the Armed Response Unit, the Scenes of Crime Unit, the Community Policing Unit and the Dog Unit.

There will also be a chance to see some of the vehicles which gardai use on a daily basis including SUVs, patrol cars and motorbikes.

While booking is not required, gardai say the last visit will be facilitated at 7.45pm.
