REPRESENTATIVES of employers across the city and country are to be in attendance at a jobs fair in St Mary's Park next week.
On Wednesday, September 13, the estate's community centre will play host to the Regeneration-backed event, which takes place between 6pm and 8pm.
So far, representatives of 20 companies, educational bodies and other services have indicated they will attend what will be the third of four jobs fairs in the Regeneration estates this year.
In total, more than 800 people attended previous fairs in Moyross and Ballinacurra Weston earlier this year.
Companies represented at the fair include Aura Grove Island, Garvey's Supervalu, the Clayton Hotel and Mr Price.
Nationally, there will be a chance to find out more information on signing up with An Garda Siochana or enlisting in the Irish Army.
Community centres across the city and the local authority will also be represented at the event.
Mayor Gerald Mitchell said: "With doors to new career pathways swinging open, the jobs fair is more than an event, it's a catalyst for lifelong success, putting residents on the fast track to achieving their ambitions. I encourage residents in the area to participate in the Jobs Fair at King’s Island Community Centre. It promises to be a launchpad for many employment and educational journeys.”
Regeneration director Joe Delaney added: "This is a unique City Centre based opportunity for the local community. The event aims to connect local residents with potential employers so that they can explore job openings and gain insights into various career paths. At the fair, entry-level positions to more specialised roles will be on offer. Training and educational opportunities will also be available.”
The final Regeneration Jobs Fair of 2023 will take place in Southill in October.
