Could Limerick see a rare bit of sunshine next week? Temperatures may rise to mid-20s

Might there be some barbecue weather in Limerick later this week?

IT'S FAIR to say the weather hasn't been much to write home about this summer, with July being the wettest month on record.

But could there be a small window of warmth on the way this week where people across Limerick can enjoy conditions which are more suited to August than October?

Alan O'Reilly, of Carlow Weather, who offers weather updates across Ireland on the social media network X (formerly Twitter), seems to think so.

In a post, he wrote: "Get the BBQ and ice-cream ready for our two day weather special coming this Wednesday and Thursday with temperatures up to 26c. But when it’s gone, it’s gone!"

Looking ahead into Wednesday certainly affords reason to be optimistic.

The weather is due to reach a maximum of 24 degrees Celsius, and is unlikely to fall below 16 degrees.

And mercifully, unlike any other day this week, there are no showers forecast between 4am and midday on Thursday!

Sadly, forecasters believe normal service will return at that point with light showers expected Thursday afternoon.

Enjoy the mini-summer while you can, folks!
