RSA takes Limerick haulage company to court

Newcastle West court

A COUNTY Limerick haulage company has been fined for not providing records to the Road Safety Authority (RSA).

The prosecution of Paud Nolan & Sons Haulage Limited, with an address at Farran, Feohanagh, County Limerick, was taken by the RSA before Newcastle West Court.

John Harris, an RSA inspector, said he stopped a Paud Nolan & Sons Haulage Limited vehicle on March 26, 2021.

Mr Harris said he asked for downloaded records to be emailed to him but none were sent.

Mr Harris said he sent a reminder notice but the records he asked for were not forwarded to him.

The RSA inspector said there was a maximum fine of €5,000.

Solicitor Denis Linehan, who represented Paud Nolan & Sons Haulage Limited, said it is accepted the company has to be more vigilant. He said drivers’ licences had been provided.

“I did not receive the downloads,” said Mr Harris.

Mr Linehan said his client could have up to 1,000 cattle at any one time.

“He hauls all his own cattle. He puts his hands up. He has no previous convictions. He is 64 years-of-age,” said Mr Linehan, who asked Judge Carol Anne Coolican to give his client credit for the plea of guilty. Judge Coolican imposed a fine of €750.
