THE SHANNON Greenway proposal, which will link a number of Clare villages to Limerick city, has been progressed to the pre-development stage.
A public consultation on the Route Selection from Clonlara to Ard Clooney opened last week and will run until August.
Waterways Ireland, together with Clare County Council and Limerick City & County Council have established a Working Group to develop a Limerick to Scarriff Greenway, which would provide a gateway to and from the heart of Limerick City to Lough Derg and the Shannon.
Subject to the selection of the preferred route, the proposed greenway would link Limerick City to Scarriff Town with connections to nearby villages and towns such as Clonlara, O’Briensbridge, Killaloe, Ogonolloe and Tuamgraney.
A feasibility and constraints report for the proposed Greenway route has been developed, along with an appraisal of route options.
The public, interested parties, landowners and stakeholders were invited to a public consultation on the route selection from Clonlara to Ard Clooney, in the Clonlara Parish last Thursday.
