Shock as post office in Limerick closes 'until further notice'

The post office in Bruree has 'temporarily closed'

THERE is shock in Bruree this Monday as people going to the post office were met with a sign saying it closed on Friday "until further notice".

Limerick Live was contacted by a local who said: "We had no idea this was coming down the track. There has been a post office in Bruree for as long as I can remember. We don't know what's going on."

A spokesperson for An Post said Bruree Post Office will temporarily close on Friday, June 30 due to circumstances beyond their control.

"DSP (Department of Social Protection) customer payments will be transferred to Kilmallock Post Office which is circa 7.3 kilometres from Bruree Post Office.

"DSP customers who wish to use an alternative post office can do so by making an application to the relevant DSP scheme office," said the spokesperson.

An Post has re-advertised the vacant contract and "will work to find and appoint a new contractor as quickly as we can".
