OH deer, motorists are being advised to take care after reports of wild animals on the loose in a Limerick town earlier this Friday.

Two deer have been sighted in Abbeyfeale, leaving local gardaí cautioning motorists to take care in the area.

Sighted on the main road near Abbeyfeale West by a passerby, gardaí were immediately alerted and put the warning in place.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána told Limerick Live that it is usually uncommon for deer to be sighted in the village, stating, "there was a report of two deer on the loose at around 12pm."

Now with "no sign" of the deer around, a traffic warning is still in place, the Newcastle West garda said.

"We are just cautioning people to be careful when they are going through the area, they might come out onto the road again," he alerted.
