IT’S OFFICIAL! Limerick and Clare hurling supporters will be able to enjoy a tipple from 10.30am on Munster final day.

An application was granted by Judge Patricia Harney at Limerick District Court this Thursday morning.

Solicitor Cian O’Donnell, of Sweeney McGann LLP, made the application on behalf of the licenced vintners of Limerick.

Mr O’Donnell sought an amendment to the original advertised application which was reported in Limerick Live.

“It can be amended from 9am on Sunday, June 11 to 10.30am,” said Mr O’Donnell.

The normal opening time on a Sunday is 12.30pm. As the match throws in at 1.45pm there would have been a short timeframe for supporters to quench their thirst.

Inspector Liam Wallace said the State is happy not to object due to the amendment of 10.30am opening as opposed to 9am.

“It applies to the same premises included in the Good Friday accord,” said Mr Wallace.

Mr O’Donnell said a map was lodged of the included areas in 2010 in relation to the “Good Friday accord”.

Judge Harney said it would be “sanguine to express a view on early-morning drinking”.

Judge Harney granted the application “in all of the circumstances”.
