Rescue 115 airlifted the woman to UHL
A YOUNG woman, thought to be from Limerick, was airlifted to University Hospital Limerick following a climbing accident in North Clare.
The woman, who is said to be in her 20s, reportedly fell a distance of around six metres onto rocks while climbing on the Mirror Wall at Ailladie off the R477 Lisdoonvarna to Ballyvaughan coast road.
The incident happened at approximately 7:30pm on Wednesday.
After the alarm was raised, Paramedics from the National Ambulance Service, the Doolin unit of the Irish Coast Guard, and Rescue 115 - the Shannon-based helicopter were dispatched.
A spokesperson for Irish Coast Guard stated: "On the evening of May 24, MRSC Valentia coordinated the response to an incident involving a woman who had fallen from the Mirror Wall at the Burren Sea Cliffs in County Clare. The Shannon Coast Guard Helicopter (Rescue 115) and Doolin Coast Guard unit were dispatched to the scene, and casualty airlifted to Limerick University Hospital a short while later."
The helicopter is said to have landed at a safe distance from the scene, while paramedics assessed and treated the woman before she was then airlifted to UHL for treatment.
It is understood her injuries are not life-threatening.
