Limerick motorway closed following serious collision

Limerick motorway closed following serious collision

A SECTION of the M20 Limerick to Cork motorway was closed this Wednesday afternoon following a serious road traffic collision.

TII (Transport Infrastructure Ireland) reported that the incident occurred between Junction 3 Raheen and Junction 2 Dooradoyle, heading in the direction of Limerick city, at around 3.10pm.

It is understood it was a single vehicle traffic collision involving a jeep and trailer that reportedly shed its load.

Gardai, Limerick Fire and Rescue Service and paramedics from the National Ambulance Service were all at the scene.

"There are no reports of injuries at this time," said a garda spokesperson.

There were long tailbacks as the driver was attended to and the vehicle and trailer removed.

The stretch of motorway has since reopened.
