WHAT WAS the world like 150 years ago, and what will it look like 150 years from now?
Primary school students in one county Limerick school are asking themselves both of these questions, as they explore historical and futuristic concepts to mark their school’s 150th anniversary.
Garrydoolis NS in Pallasgreen, is celebrating its 150th anniversary and, amongst other things, a historical booklet by former student Chris Ryan is being prepared in celebration.
The east Limerick school was established in 1873 and remains to be a vibrant part of the community.
Principal Heidi Jordan said: “We are very excited to be celebrating this milestone in the school, we are delighted and proud to be here 150 years on”.
Locals are encouraged to get involved, if they know or are in possession of any archival material dating from 1873, such as photos, notes, documents, records or memories are “most welcome”.
On Friday and Saturday June 9-10, pupils, teachers, past and present, and the local community will mark the occasion through a day of prayer and family fun.
