MOTORISTS in towns and villages in East Limerick are facing the prospect of almost six months of traffic disruption to facilitate drainage and resurfacing works.

The local authority has published details of a almost a dozen local and regional roads which will be closed at various stages between now and the end of September including a section of the R505 between Cappamore and Doon.

Each of the roads, details of which can be found here, will be closed for up to five days to facilitate the works which will continue over the summer.

In a public notice, Limerick City and County Council says diversions will be in place during the closures and that, where possible, details of specific closures will be confirmed in advance.

Efforts will also be made to maintain local and emergency access at all times.
