LIMERICK Musical Society will be bringing Titanic The Musical to the stage.

Not to be mistaken for the multi-award winning James Cameron movie, this production was featured on Broadway and won five Tony Awards.

Based on real life accounts from passengers aboard the ill-fated cruise ship, this recalls the tragic final hours of what was a maiden voyage for Titanic.

1500 men, women and children lost their lives in the sinking which was caused due to colliding with an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean.

Described as “emotive” and “stunning”, this musical captures the essence of that fateful night with scores including: Godspeed Titanic, Doing the Latest Rag, What a Remarkable Age and We’ll meet tomorrow.

LMS was founded 23 years ago and has enjoyed many years of successful shows such as Gilbert and Sullivan as well as Evita, Chess, Witches of Eastwick and most recently Sister Act.

Director Des Henn, Musical Director Shane Farrell, Choreographer Amanda Pierce along with a vast team have reimagined the 1912 setting.

This year marks the 111th anniversary of the RMS Titanic which sank on the night of April 14 and this production will run from April 13-15 to honour and remember those who lost their lives.
