REPRESENTATIVES of Limerick City and County Council, who are in the Big Apple for St Patrick’s Day, met with senior executives from Tourism Ireland.

Councillor Francis Foley, Mayor of the City and County of Limerick, was joined by Caroline Curley of Limerick City and County Council at the Tourism Ireland event in New York City this Thursday.

During the visit, the Limerick delegates were briefed on Tourism Ireland’s extensive promotional programme in the United States for 2023, which is in full swing right now.

This April in the US, the Fill your heart with Ireland campaign will aim to rebuild overseas tourism to Ireland, and remind American holidaymakers that Ireland offers the warmest of welcomes and great fun, as well as wonderful scenery and heritage.

Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America, said: "We were delighted to meet with the representatives of Limerick City and County Council and to have the opportunity to brief them about the extensive promotional programme we are undertaking in the United States this year.

"The campaign is about celebrating the different ways in which Ireland fills the hearts of our visitors and of locals – and inviting potential American holidaymakers to come and experience those for themselves."

"We’ve been taking every opportunity to capitalise on Ireland’s heightened profile around this St Patrick’s Day period," said Ms Metcalfe.

Tourism Ireland is the organisation responsible for promoting the island of Ireland overseas as a leading holiday destination.
