DETAILS of this year's Lifelong Learning Festival, which takes place later this months, have been announced.

According to Deputy Mayor of Limerick, Cllr Kieran O’Hanlon, who is encouraging people to take part in the festival "variety is the spice of life".

The week-long festival, now in its 13th year, features over 160 events with a wide variety to choose from - and they are all free of charge for the people of Limerick to attend.

This year's theme of the festival is ‘Come Learn with Me, 2023’ and participants can choose from workshops from art to IT, language courses to professional development or even martial arts and dance.

Guests who attended this Monday's launch, took part in a free morning Zumba class prior to hearing from Cllr O’Hanlon and representatives of festival’s organising committee.

“It has often been said that variety is the spice of life - that is an apt metaphor for this Lifelong Learning Festival’s offerings,” said Cllr O'Hanlon, who was representing Mayor Francis Foley who is currently in the United States.

“I have no doubt that this year’s lineup of events will be something of interest for the people of Limerick,” he added.

The core of this inclusive Limerick-based festival is to encourage people, no matter what age, to continue learning and acquiring new skills no matter what stage of life one may be.

Close associate with the festival, Eimear Brophy of Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board and keynote speaker at the launch, echoed this when she said that Limerick is “committed to supporting, promoting and improving lifelong learning”.

A variety of in-person, online and hybrid events will take place during the festival which takes place between Monday, March 26 and Sunday, April 2, 2023.
