Current data indicates an enrolment rate of 91% among Ukrainian children
AN UPDATED figure of the number of Ukrainian children enrolled at primary and secondary schools across Limerick has been released.
According to the Department of Education, in total on March 1, 515 pupils between the ages 5-18 are currently enrolled in the Treaty County.
Of these students, 313 are registered at primary level, and 202 are registered at post-primary level.
This data has been confirmed as of March 1 2023, and shows a 91% enrolment rate.
These Limerick based figures contribute to a nationwide data retrieval, where it was found that 14,931 Ukrainian pupils have been enrolled in schools across Ireland.
This data is an accumulation of 9,650 primary students, and 5,281 post-primary students around the country.
These figures show and additional 316 primary school students, and an additional 133 secondary school students were enrolled from the Ukraine since the earlier January 31 data.
To assist with the transition of Ukrainian students and their families into Irish schools, the group Regional Education and Language Teams (REALT) are in operation. This group is hosted by the 16 regional education and training boards around Ireland.
According to the Department of Education, these teams ensure that clear, accessible information flows are in place between schools, local education support services and national support structures in relation to those arriving from Ukraine.
