A NEW superintendent has been assigned to the Limerick garda division as part of a changes announced by Commissioner Drew Harris.
Superintendent Joanne O Brien, who was recently promoted, has taken over the Performance Assurance portfolio under the new divisional policing model which was rolled out in Limerick last September.
The role includes having overall responsibility for criminal justice and court file management within the division.
She replaces Supt Kieran Ruane who has been transferred to the Cahir garda district in County Tipperary.
While the appointment has just been announced, Superintendent O'Brien took up her new role on January 23.
She is be based at Mayortstone garda station in the city and reports directly to Chief Superintendent Derek Smart.
