Mary Immaculate College will host an open day this Saturday
LIMERICK'S longest-established and largely successful university Mary Immaculate College (MIC) will be host its first Open Day of 2023 this Saturday between 10am and 1pm.
The college, at South Circular Road in the city, has a long-standing reputation for offering some of the best arts and humanities and educational courses in the country.
Aoife Gleeson, President of the Student Union at MIC, is encouraging potential students to attend this weekend's event. “MIC has so much to offer on both our Limerick and Thurles campuses. There is a range of great programmes, clubs and societies, and student supports that make MIC a fantastic place to study,” she said.
On the Open Day the college will present an overview of their 13 different undergraduate programme options, over 30 postgraduate programme options at all diploma levels and expansive facilities. Prospective students will also get an opportunity to meet the lecturers and students of the campus.
The college's expansive Bachelor of Arts course (MI002) boasts 13 subjects ranging from Philosophy to Mathematics and Computer Studies, and all that is in between.
The popular Bachelor of Education degree is famous nationwide and beyond for its excellence and is also on offer along with the new Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree and plenty more.
A range of postgraduate degrees are also on offer and bolster the expansive roster of courses available in the college. These courses connect the ever-growing need of combining the needs of workplaces all over the world and the knowledge of students and can be an excellent bridge for students between scholarship and the workplace.
Dr Emma O'Brien, Director of Taught Postgraduate Studies in Education said “Our postgraduate programmes in the Faculty of Education strive to proactively consider the contemporary needs of our educators now and into the future. We provide a learning experience that is inclusive flexible to our student’s needs, it aims to connect students to a wide postgraduate and professional community national and internationally and their learning with the professional contexts in which they work.”
Funding and scholarships are also available for students including the new Ashling Murphy Scholarship awarded by MIC and the Irish National Teachers Association in remembrance of the late Ashling Murphy who passed away tragically last year. This is awarded for excellence in the field of traditional Irish music for first year Bachelor of Education students.
