THE SITE of the former Curragower House in Limerick city has been put up for sale.

Listed by Michael Roberts estate agents, it is described as a "prime development site" with full planning permission.

There was opposition when the former Georgian house was demolished in 2021 following a campaign to prevent the demolition.

The house had been derelict for some years however, it was not classed as a protected structure which allowed the demolition to go ahead.

When it was announced in 2019 that approval had been given to demolish the building, an appeal was lodged to An Bord Planala.

Following a review of the application, permission was granted, in July 2020, for demolition to proceed and for construction of a private dwelling, three apartments and a cafe unit.

Healy Partner Architects was granted permission for the works subject to 18 conditions.

It is believed that the (separate) properties on either side of the site are also on the market.
