A POPULAR Limerick bar has closed its doors amidst the cost of living crisis.
Level Up Arcade Bar located just outside Mary Immaculate College revealed it has closed its doors for the final time in a statement on social media.
“Thank you to all our customers, staff, supporters for a great three years,” the social media post began.
“Today is an incredibly sad day but unfortunately all good things must come to an end.”
Level Up Arcade Bar opened its doors in December 2019 as a pub with a twist by installing arcade machines whilst also serving food and drink.
“We were hit by the Covid pandemic just over two months after opening and found that an incredibly difficult situation to deal with,” the bar continued.
“But we eventually came through all of that and finally had a venue we were fairly happy for a finish.
“We constantly switched things up and evolved, but we’ve unfortunately come to an end after three long years,” they added.
The bar stated that the current cost of living crisis made it “impossible to continue”.
“Being one of Limerick’s most unique bars, it is a shame to shut our doors…

“Our costs have more than doubled in the last three years and lately it has become unworkable,” the social media post added.
The social media post continued: “Thank you again to everyone who supported this place, particularly to our staff and team, of which we have arranged alternative employment for almost everyone, but we are devastated to see go.
“We are saddened to close, it's a goodbye for now, but hopefully not forever.”
