A LIMERICK husband and wife have been laid to rest after they passed away on the same day.

Frank and Bernie Flavin died peacefully within hours of each other on Friday, December 30.

The husband and wife were natives of Tipperary town however, they then moved to Ballinacurra Gardens in Limerick city.

It is believed Frank passed away peacefully at home. Bernie passed away later in the day while she was an inpatient at St John's Hospital.

The couple are survived by their daughters Louise and Avril. They are predeceased by their son Colin.

The couple reposed at Thompsons Funeral Home last Tuesday before removal to St. Joseph's Church, O'Connell Avenue.

Their requiem mass took place on Wednesday followed by burial in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tipperary Town.

The couple are lovingly remembered by their daughters Louise and Avril, son-in-law Shane Fitzgerald, Frank’s sister Joan and brother Kevin, brother-in-law Bertie Cunningham, nieces, nephews, cousins, kind neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Friends and neighbours paid tribute to the couple online after news broke of their passing.
