THE Limerick U17 footballers will be looking to make it back-to-back wins in the Electric Ireland Munster GAA Minor Championship when they welcome Clare to Mountcollins on Monday night at 7pm.
Garrett Noonan's side got the better of the 'Premier' county on a scoreline of 1-9 to 1-4 in Lattin last week.
Manager Noonan was pleased that his side were able to get over the line last weekend.
"Limerick wins don't come too often in championship football so I was delighted to get the result.
"Mind you, it was a relief to get over the line but we showed great character to respond to an early goal and we never dropped the effort right to the end."
"The lads have a lot of work put in over the last couple of months and it's just fantastic to get the win."
In what was a low scoring affair, with weather conditions playing their part, the Limerick manager was satisfied with how his side managed the game given the inclement conditions.
"It was a game where whichever team made the least amount of mistakes, would have a better chance of winning the game due to the conditions and I felt like in the first half we did that.
"We won a lot of breaks off the kick outs and that gave us the platform to create chances and I think we scored six or seven points in the first half from those.
"I thought we showed great character to come back after their goal as well, we went down the field and we were able to tag on a few scores of our own."
Limerick kept their provincial rivals to just 1-4 on the day and Noonan was pleased with his side's attitude.
"I thought our tackling was good, the full forward set the tone with that , players were putting their bodies on the line.
"I think everyone worked really, really hard and like I said, that set the tone.
"For the rest of the championship, we won't deviate away from what has worked for us so far."
Limerick face a Clare side who get their Munster GAA Minor Championship underway on Monday night against Waterford in Quilty.
