THE Limerick senior football management team has announced the Captain and Vice-Captains for 2025.
The Captain is Cillian Fahy (Dromcollogher/Broadford) and Vice-Captains are Tommie Childs (Galtee Gaels) and Barry Coleman (Rathkeale).
In making the announcement, Limerick senior football manager Jimmy Lee paid tribute to his friend and club colleague, outgoing Captain Iain Corbett (Newcastle West).
"Iain's inter-county career is currently in its fifteen year. He was first appointed captain in 2016 by then Manager John Brudair and has served as captain under 4 different managers.
"Over the years he has shared the responsibility with Donal O’Sullivan. Iain decided he wanted to start the transition to a new leader in the interest of continuity for Limerick football.
"Iain has provided exemplary leadership and friendship to his inter-county colleagues both on and off the field. He has been a support and friend to all the managers he has work with and he will continue to support Cillian, Tommie and Barry in their new leadership roles this year.
"Iain's career with Limerick Senior Football will continue. His years of experience are, for new lads, a constant fountain of knowledge that he is happy to share with them. As always, he has led from the front with grit, determination, courage, honesty and integrity.
"As a management team we are delighted that Iain wants to remain committed to Limerick football and put his shoulder to the wheel for the year ahead.
"The management team want to wish Cillian, Barry and Tommie the very best in their new roles and look forward to working with them.
Chairman of Limerick Gaelic Football Committee, Wayne Fitzgerald said: "Today I want to honour a leader, a teammate, and a true inspiration - Iain Corbett. For years, Iain has been the heartbeat of the Limerick senior football team, as captain guiding us through triumphs and challenges with unwavering dedication, unmatched passion, and a commitment to excellence that has inspired us all.
"From the first whistle to the final moments of every game, Iain has led not just with words, but with actions. On the pitch, his determination and skill set the standard, showing us what it means to give everything for the Limerick jersey.
"Through Iain's leadership, we’ve learned the importance of resilience in the face of defeat, the power of unity in moments of doubt, and the joy of celebrating victories together. His presence has been more than just a captain, it has been a cornerstone of Limerick footballs identity.
"I want to thank Iain for his years as captain of the Limerick senior football team and we are all delighted to hear that he will continue to wear the Limerick jersey in the years ahead.
"I want to congratulate Cillian Fahy as captain and Barry Coleman and Tommie Childs as vice captains of the Limerick senior football team and wish them the very best in their new roles."
