ADARE are into yet another Irish Wire Products Limerick SFC final following a 2-15 to 2-12 extra time victory over Fr Casey's in Newcastle West.
Goals from Hugh Bourke and Davey Lyons had John Brudair's side in a strong position at half time but an own goal and an injury time penalty from Eliah Riordan saw the game go to extra time.
However, it was Adare that proved the strong in the two periods of 10 minutes, outscoring their opponents by 0-4 to 0-1 to land a spot in the decider.
Casey's made the early running in the game with two points each from Riordan and Adam Fitzgerald seeing them into a three-point advantage.
Bourke had two points for Adare and then added a goal when he was brilliantly picked out by Shane O'Connor and he evaded the challenge of Casey's keeper Shane O'Connell to fire in the first goal.
Adare took control from that moment and had another one on 19 minutes when Bourke was brilliantly found by Jack Fitzgerald. He then held off a couple of tackles before offloading to Lyons, who sent a devastating shot to the net that put Adare 2-2 to 0-4 in front.
Casey's responded with Martin Scannell and Dylan Quirke points but two efforts from Bourke kept Adare in the ascendancy. Lyons then added a superb point to help Adare to a 2-5 to 0-7 half time advantage.
Casey's needed something to get back into the game but it was Adare that upped the pace with Adam Canny and Jeffrey Alfred efforts from a mark and free respectively.
The game looked to be heading to an obvious conclusion in the final 10 minutes with Adare leading by 2-9 to 0-10 but a comedy of errors resulted in a goal for the Abbeyfeale men.
Rory O'Brien did superbly with a run that dissected the Adare defence. The ball spilled and last touched the Adare keeper Alfred and ended up in the net.
A Willie Griffin point towards the end looked to have sewn the game up but more drama followed with Mark McCarthy adjudged to have been fouled by Roy Gleeson. Riordan buried the penalty that forced extra time with the final score at 2-11 to 2-11.
Daniel Daly gave Casey's the perfect start to extra time with a brilliant score but strikes from Bourke and David Connolly saw Adare to a half time lead.
Adare controlled the second period of extra time with Lyons and Ronan Connolly scores seeing them to a three-point winning margin and a place in the final.
