GALBALLY GAA and Galbally Camogie has announced one of the most exciting community nights the parish has seen in years — The Movie Awards Fundraiser Night, taking place on Saturday, November 22 in The FirGrove Hotel, Mitchelstown at 8pm.

This unique event brings the entire parish together in a celebration of creativity, humour and homegrown talent, as seven locally produced short films will premiere on the big screen — each one written, cast, filmed, and performed by members of the local community.

Earlier this year, as part of the club’s development vision, the club set out to raise essential funds to support the next phase of facilities upgrades. The idea of running a Movie Awards Night quickly rose to the top — chosen because it involves everyone, from players to parents to lifelong club supporters, and most importantly, because it brings joy and connection back into fundraising.

“We wanted something fun, something that belonged to everyone,” said Chairman, Eoin Bourke. “The response has been incredible, humbling, even. When people understand what we’re trying to build for the parish and the next generation, they give their time, their skills, their energy. The pride is unreal.

“This event isn’t just about raising funds,” Bourke concluded. “It’s about identity. It’s about pride. It’s about Galbally showing what happens when we come together.

Event organisers put the call out for producers — and the parish answered. Seven would-be Movie Makers stepped forward, selected their own movie themes, assembled their casts from neighbours, club members, friends, and family, and spent the summer filming across our local area.

From shop aisles to farmyards, kitchens to pitches, familiar landmarks have become movie sets. Filming weekends were full of laughter, pressure, excitement, nerves and pride. The atmosphere behind the scenes has been electric.

Funds raised from the night are fully ring-fenced for capital development of club facilities, including:  The continued development of the new stand and seating; Improved pitch drainage to extend the playing season; A planned function room and gym with two new dressing rooms as well as investment in grounds maintenance technology, including robotic pitch care.

Galbally GAA point out that the event would not be possible without outstanding commitment and generosity from their sponsors. The club would like to sincerely thank main sponsors: Remagin - Ger Fahy; Home & Agri Energy - Johnny Lowry; Philip O’Sullivan - Heating & Plumbing Specialists.

Tickets will be available through the producers, in Cummins Shop, and via club officers: Eoin Bourke, Frank Cussen, Niall Kearney.
