LIMERICK'S senior hurlers are set to play Tipperary at Semple Stadium in aid of former Premier hurler Dillon Quirke. The game takes place on Sunday, January 28 at Semple Stadium, Thurles.

The challenge game will see proceeds go to the Dillon Quirke Foundation which was set up after the 24-year-old collapsed and died during a club hurling game in August 2022. He passed away due to Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) while playing for his club Clonoulty-Rossmore.

The foundation was then established by Dillon's parents with the aim of funding widespread cardiac screening for young people involved in sport.

John Kiely's men began their 2024 season with a win over Clare in the Co-op Superstores Munster Hurling League on Wednesday night and play Cork in their second game at Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale in their second game next week.

A win in that game will see Limerick into the final of the competition on Sunday, January 21. They begin the defence of their Allianz Hurling League title on Sunday, February 4 against Antrim.
