UPDATED: IN PICTURES: Limerick's seven All-Stars honoured as Aaron Gillane scoops Hurler of Year accolade

LIMERICK sharpshooter Aaron Gillane scooped the prestigious PwC GAA/GPA Hurler of the Year accolade as seven members of the Shannonsiders' All-Ireland senior hurling winning side were presented with their PwC Hurling All-Stars in the RDS, Dublin on Friday night.

Ace attacker Gillane was one of three Limerick players shortlisted for the top accolade along with his team mates Kyle Hayes and Diarmaid Byrnes.

Gillane is the third Patrickswell clubman to have earned the prestigious award in a row after Diarmuid Byrnes last year and Cian Lynch in 2021.

Limerick has now won Hurler of the Year for four of the last five years.

Limerick’s four-in-a-row success in the All-Ireland senior hurling championship saw the county again dominate the PwC Hurling All-Star team with seven places on the coveted final 15 for 2023.

The Treaty County lead the way with All-Ireland finalists Kilkenny capturing five places, Munster finalists Clare having two and Galway forward Conor Whelan completing the representation.

Limerick also won seven All-Stars in 2022, but accounted for an incredible 12 members of the All-Star team in 2021 which was a record haul.

In defence, Ahane's Dan Morrissey won his third All-Star, while the half-back included selected included four-time winners Diarmaid Byrnes and Kyle Hayes.

The midfield paring was an all-Limerick one with Darragh O’Donovan and Will O’Donoghue making the team.

Two Shannonsiders were included in the forward unit, now four-time All-Star winner Aaron Gillane in the full-forward line, with Ahane's three-time winner Tom Morrissey joining his brother in the side.
