LIMERICK'S All-Ireland winning history is set to be put front and centre once again on this Thursday when a new exhibition opens at the city's museum on Henry Street.
'Limerick’s All-Ireland Glory 1887-2023' an exhibition curated by Dr Matthew Potter, Curator of Limerick Museum and Meadhbh Nolan, Limerick Libraries, is to mark four historic victories of the Limerick on All-Ireland final day.
The exhibition, which is in partnership with Limerick GAA, will showcase memorabilia from the county's successes this year, in 1973, 1923 and the football 1887 win.
This year, the Limerick hurlers became just the third ever county to win four All-Ireland SHC titles in a row. The 1973 victory saw Limerick bridge a 33-year gap from the previous Liam MacCarthy cup success.
The 1923 win saw Bob McConkey become the first ever player to lift the Liam MacCarthy Cup following Limerick's win in the 1921 decider over Dublin. That game was delayed due to the fallout from the War of Independence.
A huge crowd is expected to attend the event at the Old Franciscan Friary on Henry Street. Proceedings are expected to get underway at 5.45pm on Thursday evening.
Members of the 1973 All-Ireland winning squad are expected to be in attendance, as are several of the Limerick hurlers that have tasted five All-Ireland victories since John Kiely's men win the first title in 45-years back in 2018.
