Mark Fitzgerald's tenure as interim Limerick football manager ended after the Tailteann Cup quarter-final loss to Laois.

LIMERICK'S search to find a senior football manager has stepped up a notch with the news that the county board are close to appointing a successor to Mark Fitzgerald.
At the August County Board meeting in the Fitzgerald's Woodlands House Hotel on Tuesday evening, chairman Seamus McNamara, revealed that the process was down to the final three applicants.
McNamara also revealed that six people had applied for the position that has been vacant since Mark Fitzgerald's interim management spell ended after the Tailteann Cup quarter-final loss to Laois in June.
Fitzgerald took over on an interim basis when Ray Dempsey left his post as Limerick manager in March but did not put his name forward to take part in the process to appoint a new manager.
The new appointment is expected to be confirmed shortly.
