THE LIMERICK 1973 hurling team were honoured at Croke Park today on the 50th Anniversary of their All Ireland win by the Gaelic Players Association.
Over people 400 attended the special Legends Luncheon which commemorated All Ireland champions, in both hurling and camogie, over the past six decades including the Limerick from 1973.
Led by captain Eamonn Grimes, most of the Limerick players from the all-conquering attended. Richie Bennis participated in a question and answer session with Kilkenny great Eddie Keher and RTÉ's Marty Morrissey that focused on the current teams and the upcoming final.
Eddie Donnelly of Antrim GAA and Sandie Fitzgibbon of Cork Camogie were also honoured with Lifetime Achievement Awards by the GPA.
Paul Foley, Limerick GAA’s current Croke Park representative, accompanied the team on the day on behalf of the county board.
