ROUND TWO of the Irish Wire Products Limerick SFC takes place this weekend with six teams looking to maintain their winning start to the competition.

Newcastle West, Na Piarsaigh, Adare, Kildimo-Pallaskenry, Galtee Gaels and St Kieran's all tasted victory in round one and will be looking to follow up with another win in round two.

Arguably, the tie of the round is champions of the last two years, Newcastle West, up against County Senior Football League Champions St Kieran's.

The Magpies earned a victory over Fr Caseys on opening night but were far from their best and were pushed all the way by the Abbeyfeale men. Kieran's had a similar struggle against Oola in their first game but managed to eek out a one-point win.

That meeting is one of five games taking place on Friday evening. Throw in for the Newcastle West v St Kieran's game is at 7.30pm in Askeaton.

Kildimo-Pallaskenry are looking to back up a very impressive win over Claughaun when they play Oola in Childers Road on Friday.

The city divisional club reached the quarter-final in last year's championship and know a win over Oola could see them edge closer to a spot in the knockout stages before the break until mid August.

Fr Caseys meet Claughaun in Sean Finn Park in Rathkeale in the only game that doesn't take place on Friday evening. The Abbeyfeale men could and probably should have earned a surprise win over Newcastle West in the opening round.

Caseys were impressive in that game and will be confident they can overcome a Claughaun side that were well off the mark in their defeat to Kildimo-Pallaskenry.

In Group 2, Galtee Gaels aim to make it two wins from two when they face off against Ballysteen in Ballyagran on Friday. Galtee came out on top against near neighbours Ballylanders in round one, while Balysteen were well beaten by Na Piarsaigh.

The Caherdavin side have made a bright return to life at the senior grade after a year away but face a major test against last year's beaten finalists Adare. The west Limerick side saw off Monaleen in the opening round and will be firm favourites to maintain their winning run. That game takes place in Mungret on Friday.

The final game in the group sees Ballylanders play Monaleen. Both sides need a win to kick-start their SFC campaign. They meet in Bruff on Friday evening.
