UL's Colin Coughlan in action against Alan Tynan of TUS Midwest
UL'S BID to retain the Fitzgibbon Cup continues in earnest this evening when they welcome UCD to Maguire's Field in the quarter-final of the competition.
Brian Ryan's side cruised through their group games against ATU Galway and TUS Midwest and those results set up the home last eight clash against their Dublin opposition.
UCD made it through to this stage with one win and one loss from their group games. The defeat by 0-19 to 0-13 came in their first game against UCC but they bounced back against Maynooth University. Eoin Guilfoyle's goal snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.
Star performer for UCD so far has been Galway's Donal O'Shea. The Galway panelist has scored 19 points in their games to date. He is the son of former Tipperary manager and coach Eamonn O'Shea.
There is plenty of Limerick interest in the UL squad with Adam English, Cathal O'Neill, Colin Coughlan and Rory Duff all part of Brian Ryan's setup.
