A FORTY-SEVEN acre holding at Portboy, Herbertstown has been sold at auction for a figure of €570,000.

The man with the gavel in his hand - GVM's Tom Crosse described the land as “mixed with 50% very good and the remaining heavy and needing drainage”.

There is a derelict one bed bungalow together with some old sheds and a yard. Bidding opened at €350,000.

Two bidders moved the figure to €500,000 when the property was formally placed on the market.

After 14 further bids both online and in the room the gavel fell at €570,000.
