Thomas Stack, a Farming for Nature ambassador since 2021, hosts an open day this Saturday
SECRETS of the amazing impact that regenerative agriculture and Korean natural farming methods have had on Summerhill Natural Dairy Farm in Ballyagran will be revealed this weekend,
The ticketed walk takes place on Thomas Stack's farm this Saturday, May 24 at 11am. Mr Stack’s motto is: “I use nature to produce all my inputs on the farm and to enhance the soil biology.”
He took over the family farm in 2012 and, recognising the need for change, transitioned to organic farming in 2018. Since then, Mr Stack has embraced Korean natural farming practices, harnessing the power of microorganisms to rejuvenate soil without synthetic fertilisers, herbicides, or pesticides.
Consequently, he has noticed healthier and happier cows, and a resilient farming system that thrives through environmental and financial shocks.

Mr Stack milks 60 dairy cows on virtually no external inputs. His cows are entirely grass-fed and he produces high quality organic milk. He creates his own nutritional supplements for his animals using only natural inputs and processes.
“I use the land and nature to produce all my inputs on the farm and to enhance the soil biology". Having a huge interest in nature, Mr Stack has planted over 1,000 native trees on his land already and has plans to plant many more trees to support biodiversity and encourage more wildlife back to the farm.
On Mr Stack’s upcoming farm walk attendees will learn what defines a regenerative method and what Korean natural farming is all about.
“Discover how Thomas utilises something called indigenous microorganisms (IMO) to create fertile soils and healthy livestock. Watch first hand how Thomas brews microbial ferments to produce the powerful enzymes that have transformed his farm.
“It's also an opportunity to meet like-minded, progressive farmers and to exchange ideas. There will also be an opportunity to experience the wonderful nature flourishing on the farm, including the 1,000 native trees already planted and the ongoing efforts to support local wildlife,” said a Farming for Nature spokesperson.
Farming For Nature was set up in 2018 as a non-profit project established under the Burrenbeo Trust, a registered charity. Its mission is to support, encourage and inspire farmers who farm, or who wish to farm, in a way that will improve the natural health of our countryside.
Mr Stack, who has been a Farming for Nature ambassador since 2021, is eager to share his story and techniques that have not only transformed his farm but have also allowed him more quality time with his young family.
“His commitment to environmental stewardship and producing nutrient dense food is evident as he opens his doors to visitors interested in his sustainable practices. Join us for this enriching experience to see how regenerative agriculture is shaping a healthier future for both the environment and our communities.
“Tickets usually sell out quickly. In the case of a sold-out event, a waiting list will be in operation,” said the spokesperson.
