Uisce Éireann workers a part of the Leakage Reduction Programme
Uisce Éireann will be arriving in Castleconnell next week to begin works to reduce high levels of leakage in the area, bringing with them the promise of a more secure and reliable water supply.
The works will take place in New Garden North and involve replacing 1.1 kilometres of old water mains prone to bursts with new pipes as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme.
To facilitate the safe delivery of the project and to minimise impact on the community, areas of work will be limited to short sections. Traffic management will be in place during this time with a Road Closure on New Garden North Road. Local and emergency traffic will always be maintained.
Commenting on the project, Brian McCarthy, Programme Manager, Uisce Éireann said: “Old and damaged water mains remain a significant source of leakage and continue to impact communities like Castleconnell, causing low pressure and supply disruption. Replacing these old water mains that are in poor condition will eliminate existing leaks and significantly reduce the amount of clean drinking water lost into the ground. By prioritising these upgrades, we are helping communities like Castleconnel to thrive. In advance of the works commencing, I would like to thank local residents for their support and patience as we carry out these essential works”.
