‘Short-term discolouration’ of water impacting Limerick city suburb

Issues with water pressure and clarity due to flushing operations impacing Dooradoyle and Raheen areas

Water disruption in Limerick village due to low rainfall - residents say they've been left ‘high and dry’

RESIDENTS and businesses in the Dooradoyle and Raheen area are experiencing discoloured and low water pressure.

An Uisce Éireann spokesperson told Limerick Live that: “Uisce Éireann is carrying out essential improvement works to the water network in the Dooradoyle area, primarily Raheen Business Industrial estate . As part of these works, flushing has taken place along some parts of the network.”

“When watermains are flushed in this manner it can result in short-term discolouration of the water for a period post flushing.” said the spokesperson.

Residents affected are being advised: “ In the event of discoloration, running the cold kitchen tap for several minutes - we recommend up to 20 minutes - will usually restore the water to a clear colour. The water is safe to drink once running clear.”

“If the issue remains unresolved, we encourage customers to contact us directly on 1800 278 278.”
