Young Limerick author self-publishes debut fantasy novel

Leonard Engels self-publishes debut fantasy novel Verenig
Leonard Engels has announced the launch of his first fantasy novel, Verenig.
At only eighteen years old, Leonard’s novel, Verenig, has been self-published through Amazon KDP.
Verenig is a fantasy story spanning 27 chapters across 3 acts.
The story follows the life of two main characters; Prince Anton and Lev, son of Commander Andrei.
The book explores themes of grief, redemption, peace, war and violence.
A student at Villiers School in Limerick, Leonard says he spent ‘around two years’ writing the novel.
Through a tedious process of rewriting varying drafts, the Limerick student finally reached a result he was satisfied with, and ready to publish.
According to the book's description on Amazon, the story follows a heroic battle in the fictional continent of Nordeirland.
An era of peace under the great Verenig Miro has blessed the continent of Nordeirland, as he and his allies heroically ended the Hundred Year Division between the Stonic Clans, and created the legendary Stonic Kingdom.
Then, the sickness he has hidden for years claims him. A fight that the horrors of war could never achieve, and a trusted ally seizes power.
Prince Anton of Stonic, the son of Miro, has been banished from the palace as corruption overruns the country. And soon, war begins against Navajovil, spreading across the entire world.
Prince Anton encounters both allies, and foes, being forced to live under the weight of every horrid choice has has made, while travelling through the farms of Navajovil, and uncovering secret Wind Pirate conspiracies.
On his journey, Prince Anton has to learn what his fathers philosophy truly means, and what it takes for him to become a true leader, so that he can save his country, his continent, and the world… before everything is burned to ash.
Leonard shared that he was inspired by shows like Avatar the Last Airbender and Vinland Saga, and as a child it was his dream to write a book one day.
Verenig, Ebook and Paperback, is available on Amazon.
