UPDATE: Suspicious ‘package’ discovered at Limerick school

GARDAI have confirmed a suspicious “package” was discovered at Castletroy College this Thursday.

A Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, gardai, firefighters and paramedics with the National Ambulance Services have all responded to the secondary school.

Limerick Live understands the “package” is being treated as containing “potentially hazardous material”.

A garda spokesperson said gardaí and emergency services are currently in attendance at an educational establishment in Newtown, Limerick following “the discovery of a package on Thursday, October 9 2025”.

“There is no further information available at this time,” said the garda spokesperson.

There have been no reports of any injuries to students at this time.

Limerick City and County Council, Castletroy College and the Defence Forces have also been contacted for comment.
