THERE was joy and relief in equal measure at schools across Limerick as students received their Leaving Certificate results.
While many local teenagers headed online to view their results, many still turned up at their secondary school to discuss the outcome with their teachers and celebrate with friends.
At Limerick Educate Together Secondary School (LETSS) in Towlerton, there was a smattering of youngsters.

Being congratulated by her teacher was Leyla Hascin from Castletroy, who secured 577 points.
“I did really really well. I’m delighted with my results,” she said, adding that she’s hoping to study financial mathematics at University of Limerick.
Her neighbour and friend Martyna Czaicka was “over the moon” upon opening her envelope and viewing her scores.

“I wasn’t expecting what I got. I’ve been going on the calculator trying to figure out what I’m eligible for. I think I underestimated myself!”
Martyna is also hoping to go to UL, to study food science and health.
“It was a tough exam, but I am delighted,” was Dooradoyle lad Noah Jackson’s verdict.
He secured 485 points - the exact same number needed to study psychology and sociology at UL.
“I am praying now,” he admitted.
Asked how he plans to celebrate, Noah laughed: “I don’t think we are allowed to say that on the paper!”
Sean Lyons of Singland is heading to the Technological University of the Shannon in Moylish to study culinary.
“I’m happy - I wasn’t aiming too high, but I got the points for my course,” he told the Limerick Leader.
Aaron Jennings has a bright future lined up, hopefully at the Limerick School of Art and Design.
The Westbury local particularly shone in music and design communication graphics, scoring an H2 in both.
“It was definitely better than I expected. I was pleasantly surprised,” he admitted.
His mum Michelle said: “I am very proud of him. I said, coming in, it didn’t matter what we got, and we were proud of him before he opened the envelope. But even more so now. I’m glad his hard work has paid off.”

LETSS principal Eoin Shinners said Leaving Certificate results are up in his school.
“This is our second cohort of students who joined us in 2019. They have done incredibly well. We are delighted and proud,” he said.
