PEOPLE are being urged to make a “huge difference” to those with life-limiting illnesses this June by raising money for Milford Care Centre.

Milford Care Centre is asking montessoris, creches, pre-schools and primary schools around Limerick to host a Hospice Sunflower Fun Day, where they will receive a welcome pack which includes colouring pages and sunflower seeds for the children to plant during the fun day.

To participate, select the date in June you would like to run your Hospice Sunflower Fun Day and register at www.sunflowerdays.ie

Families are asked to make a €2 donation, or whatever they can afford, with all funds raised going directly to Milford Care Centre.

Speaking about the Hospice Sunflower Fun Day initiative, Hospice Sunflower Days ambassador, Maeve Dennehy, said: “With hospices throughout the country needing to raise approximately €20m each year to continue to provide specialist care for patients and their families, our help is so important.

“By getting involved  this June, schools, creches, montessoris and pre-schools throughout the country will make a huge difference to their local hospice.”

Together for Hospice, The National Hospice Movement, represents 24 hospices nationwide and coordinates the annual Hospice Sunflower Days event.

“Every euro raised locally, stays locally” and the funds raised play a vital role in supporting the delivery of specialist palliative care in communities across Ireland.

Additionally, fundraising efforts will be instrumental in addressing individual care needs by procuring specialised equipment to enhance the comfort and quality of life for individuals facing life-limiting illnesses.

The public are   also invited to  help Milford Care Centre by supporting their Hospice Sunflower Days on-street collections that will be taking place on Friday,  June 6 or Saturday,  June 7.
