The Creepy Crawlies: Love/Hate exhibition is open for the public to visit until November

THE HUNT Museum has announced another exhibition to keep in line with their theme of the year: biodiversity.

The Creepy Crawlies: Love/Hate exhibition will be open to the public in Limerick city centre until November 21.

The exhibition aims to deepen understanding of insects’ vital role in our ecosystem, featuring pieces from the Hunt Museum's collection that highlight their representation in art and artefacts.

Families, students, and insect enthusiasts can enjoy live demonstrations, participate in educational workshops, and view unique insect-inspired art.

Teresa Crowley, director at the Hunt Museum, said: "We are thrilled to bring this exciting exhibition to the Hunt Museum. It is to make learning about insects both fun and informative.

“This exhibition is a perfect blend of our collection, science and art, designed to captivate visitors of all ages.”

Our relationship with insects is often misunderstood, driven by a lack of knowledge about their vital contributions to maintaining a balanced environment.

Insects are integral to the cycle of life, and disrupting their ecosystems can have profound consequences for our planet and our survival.

This exhibition aims to highlight that, featuring a storyline that guides visitors through the incredible diversity and importance of insects.

Through carefully curated displays and narratives, visitors will explore how insects contribute to the health of our planet and why their conservation is critical.

Exhibition highlights will include interactive displays where visitors can engage with hands-on exhibits that bring the world of insects to life, offering a deeper understanding of their roles in ecosystems.

Workshops sessions will cover topics such as gardening and biodiversity, helping attendees appreciate the intricate relationships between plants, insects, and the environment.

This exhibition is a collaborative effort between the Hunt Museum and a variety of local partners, including the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Limerick City & County Council and The Heritage Council.

Tickets to the Creepy Crawlies: Love/Hate exhibition are €12.50 each and can be purchased online at The Hunt Museum website.
