Gardaí in Limerick city are investigating a burglary at a home on the Ennis Road while the homeowner was away on holidays.
Appealing for information about the break-in, Sergeant Michelle O’Halloran, Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street garda station described what happened.
"A male in his 30s reported that while he was away and his home was vacant, the property was broken into. A number of items were stolen, including jewellery and electronic items," she said.
Gardaí attached to Mayorstone garda station are investigating the incident and anyone with information is asked to come forward.
The local crime prevention has offered some advice to homeowners who are heading away on holidays over the summer months.
“The key thing is to make your home look occupied. Ask a trusted neighbour orfamily member to keep an eye on the property, park in the driveway if possible, and remove post or deliveries from the front door.
“Use timer switches on lights and avoid posting holiday updates on social media until you return home. Most importantly, ensure all doors and windows are securely locked before leaving,” she said.
