Up to four garda vehicles were involved in the chase on the southside of Limerick city
GARDAI in Limerick were involved in a pursuit of a speeding car in the early hours of this Sunday morning.
Up to four garda vehicles - car, unmarked jeep, two vans - were involved in the chase on the southside of the city.
A video, which has been shared on social media, shows the car travelling on the John Carew Park Link Road in the direction of the Childers Road.
The screeching of the brakes can be heard as the driver takes a left, at speed, onto the Childers Road. They then take a sharp right onto O’Donoghue Avenue with a garda vehicle following behind it.
The car disappears from the footage, which appears to be shot on a mobile phone, before reemerging seconds later on the Childers Road.
The driver returns to the John Carew Park Link Road, again brakes can be heard screeching as they take a left.
The video concludes with gardai in pursuit as the car heads in the direction of the M20 Limerick to Cork motorway.
Following a query from Limerick Live, a garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí responded to reports of dangerous driving on Childers Road, Limerick city on Sunday, August 2, shortly after 3.15am. Enquiries are ongoing.”
