A DRIVER was caught doing 86 km/h in a 60 zone by gardaí on the R515 Elton Road, Knocklong, Limerick as part of a Garda Roads Policing Operation.
The garda operation is taking place throughout the St Patrick’s Bank Holiday Weekend from 7am on Thursday, March 12, until 7am on Wednesday, March 18.
Gardaí also detected a driver doing 127 km/h in a 100 zone on the N15 in Tully, Donegal, over the course of the operation.
The garda press office has stated that an “excess of 3,450 drivers were detected for speeding offences during the first 96 hours of the operation”.

An Garda Síochána will also be carrying out Mandatory Intoxicant Testing across the country over the course of the bank holiday period.
Over the course of the operation, a total of 139 people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and / or drugs.
In a statement, Gardaí reminded road users to never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Garda Síochána are encouraging all motorists to slow down, avoid distractions and give their full attention to the road.
