When contacted for comment, a garda spokesperson confirmed gardaí received a report of an incident of criminal damage by fire that occurred in the Ballinacurra Weston area of Limerick city on Wednesday, October 1 at approximately 1.40am.

“A car was reported as damaged. No injuries have been reported at this time.

“Investigations are ongoing,” said a garda spokesperson.

It is not known if it is connected to an ongoing feud involving rival groupings, centred around the Ballinacurra Weston area.

There was a series of pipe bomb and arson attacks on cars and homes, as well as drive-by shootings, earlier this year.

Anyone with information, or was driving in the Ballinacurra Weston area in the early hours of Wednesday morning and has dash-cam footage, is asked to contact Roxboro Garda Station on (061) 214340, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
