Arrest made as part of operation targeting organised crime in Limerick

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that 'investigations remain ongoing'

GARDAÍ have arrested a man in his 20s as part of an operation targeting an Organised Crime Group.

The man was arrested this Wednesday morning, September 3.

The arrest came as part of an operation targeting an Organised Crime Group (OCG) "suspected of being involved in business and residential burglaries as well as the theft of high value vehicles," a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed.

The arrest was made following an intelligence led operation involving Garda members from the Clare/ Tipperary Division and the Southern Region Support Units.

The spokesperson confirmed: "The man arrested in connection with this investigation is currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at a Garda Station in the Southern Region.

“This investigation remains ongoing.”

A man in his 30s was previously arrested in Limerick city in on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 in connection with the ongoing investigations targeting an OCG.

He was charged in relation to a number of burglaries and other offences and appeared before Ennis District Court later that month.

He is the second person to appear before the courts in connection with this investigation.
