Two men charged over seizure guns and ammunition close to Limerick-Cork border

TWO men arrested over the seizure of firearms and ammunition in Charleville have been charged this Friday.

The two men, aged in their 30s and 40s, are due to appear in front of a special sitting of Mallow District Court this afternoon.

A garda spokesperson said while on patrol on Wednesday, August 20, gardaí from Charleville garda station stopped a car at a service station in Charleville at approximately 11pm.

Three firearms, ammunition and approximately €800 worth of suspected diamorphine was discovered.

The two men were arrested and conveyed to a garda station in County Cork where they were detained under the provisions of Section 30 of Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
