Laptop and tablet among items stolen during car break-ins in Limerick
GARDAI are investigating two thefts in Castletroy.
"In the early hours of last Tuesday morning, July 22, somewhere between 02.15am and 02.25am a car was accessed with a tablet and mobile phone stolen by the thief from the glove box in the Briarfield area. And, overnight on Saturday last, July 26 - July 27, a car was broken into in the Dromroe Village area with a laptop removed from the boot," outlined Sergeant Michelle O’Halloran, Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street Garda Station.
Sgt O'Halloran issued the following advice for vehicle owners to reduce their chances of a break-in: Remove it – Don’t leave anything in your vehicle, even if you think it’s worthless; lock it – always lock your doors and close all windows and check that the car is locked, even when parked at home; and hide it – if you absolutely must leave something behind, hide it before you arrive at your destination — not after you park.
"Remember criminals are opportunists, do not give them the opportunity to steal from you, keep your vehicles locked," added the crime prevention officer.
