A LATE-night assault in Limerick, which left one man hospitalised, has prompted gardaí to issue a public appeal for information. 

A man in his 30s was brought to University Hospital Limerick (UHL) following an assault on Friday, January 3, in Abbeyfeale.

“On Friday night last at 2am on Church Street, Abbeyfeale, a young man was struck in the face by another male, which led him to fall to the ground, banging his head,” said Sgt Michelle O’Halloran of Henry St garda station.

“An ambulance was called and he was removed to UHL. Perhaps you may be living in this area and may have heard or seen something in the area at that time, or you may have be passing through Church Street. 

“If so, the Gardai in Newcastle West garda station are appealing for you to contact them on 069 20650,” she said.
